Illinois Council of the Blind. The purpose of the Illinois Council of the Blind is to promote the general welfare of citizens in Illinois who are blind. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for all blind and visually impaired citizens in Illinois. Our objectives include protecting the rights and privileges of visually impaired Illinois citizens by monitoring legislation, agencies, and organizations that provide services for them.

While in Tanzania, Charley Mace, my wife Melody and I visited a school for the blind in Moshi, Tanzania. Charley and I had visited this same school during my visit to Tanzania in 2005. Although the school also teaches non-blind students, it is somewhat unique because it does have a large section for teaching blind children.
